Arteta says Aubameyang row 'resolved in a really positive way'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says he has cleared the air with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The club captain was dropped in advance of the north London derby at the weekend, due to what was described as a breach of discipline.

He did not feature in their 2-1 win over Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium.

Ahead of their Europa League clash with Olympiacos tomorrow (Thursday), Arteta says the issue has been addressed.

The Spaniard did not say, however, whether Aubameyang would feature in the last-16 tie.

"We talked, everything has been resolved in a really positive way so we move forward,” he said.

"Auba is one of the best players we have."

However, when questioned whether that means he could be involved this week, Arteta refused to confirm his inclusion.

"Everybody has to obviously perform at the highest level to earn his place in the team and there is no exceptions there.

"We will try and put a really competitive team out to try and win the game."

The Gunners enjoyed a 3-1 win in Greece, and go into tomorrow's tie in the driving seat.

They will also be encouraged by their weekend success over their neighbours on the domestic front.

Arteta says, though, that there is still an amount of work to do to secure their progression to the last eight.

Absolutely not," was his answer when asked whether they already had one foot in the next round.

"From what I've seen from Olympiacos and the amount of games that they have won in the final minutes and the belief that they have in that team, it will be tough and they will try to put us under real pressure. There is still a lot to play for.

"It is a really important game for us, nothing has been decided.

"There is still another 90 minutes at least to play for and we know it is going to be tough and everyone has to be ready.

"We have the opportunity to make changes, we have five substitutions so we will decide the best team to try to beat them."
