Arsenal would want to be "really stupid" to not feel the shadow of Manchester City on their shoulder, Pat Nevin told The Football Show.
Former Chelsea and Everton player Nevin was on with Joe Molloy on Monday and discussed the ongoing Premier League title race which has seen Man City catch up with league leaders Arsenal.
Arsenal are four points ahead of City in first place but both sides have still to meet each other before the end of the season and City have a game in hand.
"They would have to be really stupid, they would have to be really really dim not to see Manchester City's big shadow on their shoulder," Nevin said.
"It's often a bit easier if you're running a tight race to be right on the shoulder coming into that last bend because you can see everything. Whereas if you're at the front and you've been at the front for a long time you've a million thoughts in your head and they're all behind you.
"It's absolutely the case. It's a tough place to be. Everyone is gunning for you and you know that. Especially if you're not used to it."
Arsenal have finished between fifth and eighth in the last five seasons while City have won four titles in that time.
Nevin explained that this is one of the big differences between the sides. While most players in Pep Guardiola's squad know they can win the title, Arsenal only have a few players with that experience.
"Man City know they can win it. Arsenal think that they can. That's the difference. That's where they are," Nevin said.
"Haaland doesn't know [City can win] but I expect he's hella confident that they can."
