Andy Carroll confirmed to be leaving West Ham

West Ham have confirmed that Andy Carroll is leaving the club. Once Britain's most expensive player, the big striker now finds himself a free agent.

Carroll is one of a trio of players that will officially depart the London Stadium on June 30th. Also heading out the exit door are goalkeeper Adrian, and Samir Nasri.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle striker, and Spanish stopper Adrian have played for a combined 13-seasons with the Hammers. West Ham ended Carroll's unhappy spell at Liverpool when they signed him permanently for £15m (€17.5m). He scored 34 times in 142 appearances, but due to various injuries hasn't played since February.

Adrian had to content himself with the role of Lukasz Fabianski's stand-in since the Pole's arrival from Swansea last summer. Nasri's departure is also as expected after the former Manchester City midfielder failed to make an impact during his short-term deal. The former French international signed a six-month deal in January after serving the same amount of time of a drugs ban.

West Ham's joint-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan thanked Carroll and Adrian for their service to the East London club, “Andy and Adrian have both been great servants to West Ham United throughout their time at the Club and we thank them for their loyalty and commitment to the Claret and Blue cause.

“Both have provided us and our fellow supporters with some unforgettable moments, whether they were sensational scissor kicks and unstoppable headers in Andy’s case, or penalty saves and goals in Adrian’s.

“They can both be assured of warm welcomes whenever they return to London Stadium and we wish them, as well as Samir Nasri and the young players whose contracts are up this summer, the very best for their future careers.”

The departing youngsters Messrs. Gold and Sullivan are alluding to are midfielders Moses Makasi and Noha Sylvestre and defenders Vashon Neufville and Josh Pask will also depart, as will scholars Mason Barrett, Kevin Dalipi, Jay Mingi and Odysseas Spyridis.
