Rafa Cabrera Bello confirmed for 2017 Irish Open

Spain's Rafa Cabrera Bello is the latest Top 30 ranked golfer to be confirmed for the upcoming Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

The World No 28 will join World No 3 Hideki Matsuyama of Japan and Spanish World No 10 Jon Rahm at Portstewart Golf Club for the tournament between July 6th and 9th.

England's Justin Rose, who is currently ranked 11th in the world and won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympics Men's golf tournament, was also confirmed for the Irish Open back in April. Lee Westwood and 2016 Masters champion Danny Willett were confirmed last month.

Cabrera Bello, who was in Europe's 2016 Ryder Cup team, has already participated at the Irish Open numerous times. In 2012, he finished joint second on the leaderboard behind Wales' Jamie Donaldson and was tied for fourth in 2015, missing out on the three way playoff by a single shot.

"I absolutely love playing in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. It’s always one of my favourite events and you can see that in my recent record at this event," he said.

"The atmosphere is always incredible and I love playing in front of such knowledgeable golf fans. I really enjoy playing on classic links courses too and I think they really suit my game.

"With this tournament now a part of the Rolex Series, I think it will be even more special and it looks like it will be a really strong field so I’m looking forward to a great week."

The Irish Open takes place two weeks before the third major of the year at the Open Championship which takes place at Royal Birkdale, England.
