Is this Dublin squad the best in GAA history?

Listen to the full chat above via the podcast

The current strength in depth at Dublin's disposal is positively frightening.

Yesterday the Dubs flexed their muscles against Derry to secure a second consecutive Allianz League title, to set themselves up nicely for the challenges that the Championship will bring.

While it may not be the best XV of all time, former Mayo footballer David Brady joined Wooly and Joe in studio, and he reckons that the Dublin squad is up there with the best he has seen.

"Back in the '70s and '80s, the great Kerry team had a massive squad but they relied a lot on their first XV. [Dublin's] is a fantastic squad. Kerry had a strong squad in my mind back in the '90s - '97, '98 and '99, 2000 - where they had Mike Frank Russell on the bench for a lot of it. What Dublin have done this year is bring it to a new level," he said.

The massive competition for places and the players' professional ethic is driving them on.

Wooly and Brady then talked of the "new strings to their bow" that Dublin have added since winning the All Ireland last year.

But Brady feels the team that manages to beat Dublin in the Championship will not necessarily go in to win the All Ireland.

"I do think that any team that beats Dublin this year won't win the All Ireland because they're going to go out and do one thing only. It'll be very similar to what we saw yesterday between Chelsea and Liverpool. They're going to have to park the bus, the Luas and the tram - the whole lot," said Brady.

The lads also talked about the couple of teams that have the game plan to beat Dublin and also looked at the Division 2 final between Monaghan and Donegal.
