Mike Carlson says potential Super Bowl ring will trump Tom Brady retirement talk

Mike Carlson believes Tom Brady will definitely lineout for the New England Patriots next season.

The 40-year-old has yet to commit his future to the New England Patriots. Speculation is rife that the record-breaking quarterback may call time on his illustrious career, as he may choose to spend more time with his family.

Carlson says the fact Gronkowski and Brady aren’t participating in the voluntary off-season program may be increasing the speculation about the pair’s future.

Carlson believes the fact "the Pats" didn’t win the Super Bowl may have lead Brady think about hanging up the boots. Something he doesn’t expect to happen. He expects to see Brady lining out for the Boston based outfit in September.

“When you don’t win is the time you start thinking about it. Rob Gronkowski, that unique talent at tight end, and Brady’s favorite target. He and Brady are both not participating in the voluntary off-season program. That’s fine with the team. They knew Brady wasn’t going to be there as he is on holiday in Europe. The fact Gronk’s not there, is not a huge surprise. I think everybody expects that they’ll be back in August in camp, and playing in September, and playing.”

Carlson thinks Bill Belichick’s side have a big chance to take back the Super Bowl Championship from the Eagles next season. They "Pats" have  a number of crucial players set to return to the side. Including Julian Edelman, who has been a close friend of Brady, off the pitch.

“If for no other reason then they’ve got a really good team. And they are getting people back like Julian Edelman, who missed the whole season. He’s best friends with Brady, and tight with Gronkowski. And there's still that Super bowl ring to play for. I think that in the end trumps almost everything else that’s going on.”
